ABSTRACT

A smart solution for covering waste storage facilities is described. It allows vegetated covers for full environmental integration while optimizing the storage volume of the landfill for a given footprint by allowing slope angles up to 2/3, depending on the shear strength of the cover soil. The design process is described for the reinforcement and drainage functions that the geocomposite solution ensures. The case study illustrates the importance of the design of the anchorages required by this application.
