ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the reader to the project and the development of thoughts about autonomy in the shipping domain at the time. It briefly describes how the project developed and how information was gathered. The chapter presents a short list of improvements offered by using human-centred principles. It concludes with a summary of the book's chapters.
