ABSTRACT

Biopolymers have been emerged as an innovative and environmentally friendly construction material due to their significant strengthening effect, causing minimal environmental pollution when compared to traditional binders. This research examines the viability of using a biopolymer to enhance resistance against erosion. The impact of biopolymer treatment was assessed through laboratory tests, including hole erosion and hydraulic flume tests. The earthen levee models treated with a 1% biopolymer-to-soil mass ratio demonstrated remarkable resistance to piping erosion. In conclusion, this study suggests that implementing biopolymer treatment would be effective in practical applications.
