ABSTRACT

This paper presents a suitable constitutive and interface model of soil-pile interaction in a subsiding soil (gyttja) using PLAXIS 2D software. The model was calibrated by simulating the results of soil settlement, excess pore water pressure, drag force and unit shaft resistance along the uncoated steel test pile obtained in the field triggered by placing a 2 m high fill embankment around the piles. Such calibrated model could serve as a basis for further numerical simulations of the soil-pile interaction for both single-pile and pile groups.
