ABSTRACT

This study examines the influential factors in environmental management practices within the Ghanaian real estate industry, particularly in developing countries. The integration of effective environmental management practices in the industry is vital for achieving sustainable and competitive advantages while minimizing negative impacts on the natural environment. However, environmental management goals have received limited attention in Ghana's real estate sector. Through a systematic review of 96 papers using Google Scholar and ScienceDirect, 20 relevant papers were critically reviewed. A total of 65 success factors were identified and classified into ten themes: institutional/organizational, stakeholder influence, professional relations, mimicry from other companies, construction team, government pressure, social considerations, economic considerations, market forces, and social considerations. This comprehensive review fills a gap in the literature, offering insights for developing interventions that promote environmental sustainability and reshape national and organizational culture within the real estate industry.
