ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces The Inner World of Artificial Intelligence and situates its conceptual and philosophical foundations. It connects the contributions of the volume’s 15 chapters through three guiding questions on hidden human labour, political economies and ideologies of technocapitalism, and the spatial reshaping of cities and regions. By weaving these perspectives together, the introduction establishes a coherent narrative linking micro, meso, and macro scales of analysis. It presents the volume as an interdisciplinary inquiry into AI’s inner world – its human, political-economic, and spatial dimensions – and its implications for power, governance, and ethical transformation.
