ABSTRACT
The importance of monitoring bridges has extensively emerged in the last decade, considering recent bridge collapses in Italy. With over half of the country’s bridges in service for more than 50 years, ensuring their serviceability is crucial. This requires inspections that document the condition of infrastructures. In this context, the development of customised, reproducible, and user-friendly web platforms plays a crucial role for exploring georeferenced 3D models of bridges acquired through laser scanning and drone photogrammetry. This paper focused on implementing Potree WebGL, a JavaScript library for the exploration of point cloud, native and custom functionalities to support bridge geometry reconstruction and defect documentation, as required by the Guidelines for Risk Classification and Management established by Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. Catering the needs of administrators, a standardised web platform called PONTI (Potree platfOrm for iNfrasTructure Inspection) has been developed to aid decision-making in road infrastructure maintenance and monitoring.
