ABSTRACT
The 1915Çanakkale Bridge provides the crossing of the Dardanelles between Gelibolu-Lapseki as part of the 101-kilometer long Malkara-Çanakkale Motorway. The 1915Çanakkele Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the world with a main span of 2023 meters, symbolizing the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, and featuring the world’s tallest towers at a peak height of 334 meters with the addition of Seyit Onbaşı artillery shell figures to the 318-meter steel tower height. The1915Çanakkale Bridge is a world record bridge that was built in a record time of just four years providing an alternative route to the busy city of İstanbul. The long main span combined with extreme wind loads and possible earthquakes, put engineering capabilities to the test. The O&M sub-contractor organization, inspections, and monitoring systems offer an intriguing case study. Operational since March 18,2022 the 1915Çanakkale Bridge and Malkara-Çanakkale Motorway Project critical for enhancing regional connectivity.
