ABSTRACT

There are some advantages of steel-concrete composite bridge in the case of pier girder consolidation, such as greater overall stiffness, less maintenance work. However, the combination zone of composite girder and concrete pier which needs to transfer bending moment, shear force and axial force is under complicated stress state. Combined with Sutai expressway project in Tongxiang, this paper conducts research on its static behaviour. Firstly, stress distribution law of the structure during construction and service stage is studied by establishing an overall three-dimensional solid model, and the influence of some structural system parameters on its static behaviour is analysed. Then, a local model which minutely simulates the combination zone of composite girder and concrete pier is established to reveal the failure mechanism by nonlinear finite element analysis, and effects on stiffness, ultimate capacity and failure mode are investigated by varying shear span ratio, embedded depth of steel plates and reinforcement ratio. The conclusions obtained in this paper can provide references for the same type of bridges.
