ABSTRACT
The Reggia di Colorno, the ancient summer residence of the Dukes of Parma, has seen numerous building transformations over the last seven hundred years. Located a few kilometres from the Po River and along its tributary, the Parma river, it contains three courtyards, an Italian and an English garden, a large Palatine chapel, as well as a series of other buildings once functional to court life. It is a monumental complex that unfortunately suffered extensive damage from 2012 to 2018 due to natural and man-made disasters. In retracing the main historical events of the building, this paper intends to analyse its state of decay following the various disasters and interventions implemented to repair present and reduce possible future damage.
