ABSTRACT

As a game-changer in environmental monitoring, the Internet of Things (IoT) has great promise for tracking climate change and promoting sustainable development. The implementation of IoT-based devices to gather data in real time on vital environmental parameters like temperature, humidity, air quality, and soil moisture is examined in this study. Continuous monitoring is made possible by these networked sensors, which also allow for early environmental change detection and offer insightful information to stakeholders, researchers, and policymakers. Our ability to comprehend climatic patterns, recognize trends, and project future scenarios will improve with the integration of IoT with sophisticated data analytics and machine learning algorithms, enabling us to make better decisions.

There are difficulties in integrating IoT with environmental monitoring. In order to guarantee the dependability and efficiency of these systems, concerns like data privacy, security, and the requirement for standardization in IoT protocols must be addressed. Furthermore, in order to ensure long-term operation, the deployment of IoT devices in harsh or isolated environments calls for strong and long-lasting hardware solutions in addition to effective energy management. To build a safe and interoperable IoT ecosystem that can support extensive environmental monitoring projects, legislators, industry leaders, and technology developers must work together to overcome these obstacles.

Furthermore, by encouraging effective resource management, lowering waste, and optimizing energy use, IoT-driven solutions support sustainable growth. For example, smart grids can balance energy loads to avoid waste, while smart irrigation systems can accurately control how much water is used in agriculture. By facilitating adaptive responses to environmental changes, this study highlights the significance of IoT in reducing the effects of climate change. It also highlights how governments, businesses, and academic institutions must work together to develop and deploy cutting-edge IoT technologies that advance sustainability objectives. In the end, the incorporation of IoT into environmental monitoring underscores the transformative potential of technology in tackling global environmental concerns and is a critical step toward realizing a more resilient and sustainable future.
