ABSTRACT

The collaboration between the research and professional sectors is a crucial element for innovation and process optimization in the engineering field. TECNE, the engineering company of the Autostrade per l’Italia group, in partnership with the Politecnico di Torino, has launched a project that leverages the interaction between academic research and operational practice to improve the digitalization and management of infrastructure. Through a PhD scholarship in civil engineering, the collaboration aims to integrate innovative tools, such as parametric modeling and machine learning algorithms, to address current challenges in tunnel design and maintenance. The methodology presented in this contribution is continuously evolving to meet the specific needs of projects and designers. This dynamic approach not only improves technical performance but also promotes more effective knowledge sharing between academia and industry, fostering replicable innovations.
