ABSTRACT

Optimized blasting is essential in tunnel development, impacting efficiency, cost, and safety. This process fine-tunes parameters like spacing and burden to achieve controlled rock fragmentation by distributing explosive energy evenly. Proper planning minimizes overbreak and underbreak, reducing scaling and support needs while enhancing safety and cutting costs. Recent advancements in blasting technologies, including software modeling, electronic detonators, and bulk solutions, are transforming blasting practices. Advanced software enables engineers to simulate and refine blasting scenarios, predicting outcomes with precision and optimizing energy distribution, fragmentation, and tunnel stability. Real-time monitoring integrates field data to continuously improve performance. By combining these simulations with cutting-edge detonators and bulk technology, modern blasting maximizes energy efficiency, reduces environmental impacts, and enhances project outcomes. This integration highlights the critical role of innovation in improving safety, sustainability, and effectiveness in contemporary tunneling projects.
