ABSTRACT
The South lot tunnel of São Paulo Line 6 project has a total length of over 9 km and is excavated with a 10,6 m diameter EPB TBM. This paper presents the main features of the TBM tunnel excavated through sedimentary soils and gneiss residual soil with soil covers ranging from 8 to 66 m. The alignment runs under the dense urban grid of São Paulo with high-rise building’s foundations very close to the excavation, as well as crossing under existing Line 4 tunnel. Several 3D numerical analyses were carried out to model the TBM drive step-by-step in order to define the TBM advance pressures and to minimize surface and structures deformations.
