ABSTRACT
Settlement control is a key factor affecting the quality and safety of shield tunnel construction, but due to the complexity and variability of factors affecting surface settlement and the difficulty of analyzing spatiotemporal characteristics, accurate settlement control remains a challenging and hot issue. This study focuses on the demand for accurate settlement control and proposes a settlement control method based on the spatiotemporal characteristics and cost optimization of settlement during construction (SCM-SC), which uses the XGBoost-PSO fusion algorithm to analyze the complex relationship between shield tunneling parameters and the spatiotemporal characteristics of settlement, and constructs a comprehensive benefit model of shield tunneling that optimizes the shield tunneling parameters and takes into account the effects of shield tunneling parameters on construction efficiency and project cost. The SCM-SC is applied to a soft soil engineering section in the eastern China region. The test results indicated that, compared to traditional methods, SCM-SC effectively reduced shield tunneling construction costs by 13.5%, significantly improved shield tunneling construction efficiency by 9.8%, and consequently, effectively enhanced the comprehensive benefits of shield tunneling projects.
