ABSTRACT
Strategic infrastructure projects require a focus on the whole life cycle, so that the work is designed, built and monitored to enable effective maintenance of the infrastructure during operation. With a view to optimising the life cycle costs of the work, besides optimal infrastructure function during the operational phase, the project is focused on the durability of the civil works, innovative monitoring systems possibly to be maintained even during the operational phase, accessibility to the technological systems by minimising interference with railway operations, as well as innovative water drainage systems. This information is organised within a Tunnel Information Model, which allows the information to be tracked over time.
