ABSTRACT
The Project “Wakrah and Wukair Drainage Tunnel – C853/2” is part of the infrastructure program called IDRIS and is located in the southern part of Doha. The project comprises the design and construction of a 13.3 km long sewage tunnel in double-shell construction with 4500 mm final inner diameter and up to 61 m depth, eight access shafts, two vortex drop structures and adits with provisions for future connections. About 13.1 km of the sewage tunnel were drilled with two earth pressure balance tunnel boring machines. The design includes the structural design of all for the construction required temporary structures and all final permanent structures as well as the hydraulic design, which includes the 1D-hydraulic and CFD-simulations with 3D-models for four complex shaft structures. To support the design and the construction a Building Information Model was created.
