Immersed tunnel design: Addressing the limitations of Eurocodes and promoting a uniform design guideline

This paper identifies some generalisations in the Eurocodes that can influence the design of immersed tunnels. This emphasises the necessity to establish uniform design guidelines, using examples from the Eastern Ring Road project in Denmark. The paper provides a comprehensive overview of the key considerations in the design of immersed tunnels, with a particular focus on the safety factors for seawater loads.
