ABSTRACT
This paper presents an overview of the vertical stability analysis conducted for the complex offshore tunnel to seabed shaft connections for the Hinkley Point C Marine Works Project in UK. 3D numerical analyses were developed, incorporating the construction sequence of the six offshore shafts to tunnel connections. The analyses presented demonstrate the robustness of the shear key solution adopted to ensure the vertical stability of the steel shaft liners under various construction stages. The paper also summarises the approach to establishing monitoring trigger levels for the liners during construction and presents initial monitoring results, which confirm the intended minimal movement of the liners.
