ABSTRACT
The construction of urban transit systems in densely populated areas presents significant challenges, particularly in regions with complex geological conditions and deteriorating nearby structures. The paper “Futuristic Foundations: Sadar Bazar Metro Station’s Trailblazing Redesign & Construction” examines the difficulties faced during the detailed design and construction of the Diaphragm wall using a trench cutter at Sadar Bazar Metro Station on the R K Ashram-Janakpuri Corridor, part of Phase IV of Delhi Metro. It highlights the innovative strategies adopted by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to overcome site and geological constraints, prioritizing efficiency, safety, sustainability, and passenger experience. The success of Sadar Bazar Station showcases DMRC’s forward-thinking approach to modern urban infrastructure, employing cutting-edge technology and unconventional methods. As cities grow, the lessons from this project will influence future transit system developments, offering a blueprint for overcoming urban construction challenges.
