ABSTRACT
Tunnel is one of the important infrastructures that can increase space utilization in modern society, and a lot of construction is being carried out. Grout is widely used as a backfilling material to fill the tail void generated during such tunnel construction. In general, grout is used by mixing materials such as cement, bentonite, and sodium silicate. Among the materials used in grouts, components such as cement are known to cause environmental problems such as CO2 emissions and groundwater contamination. This study introduces a new eco-friendly grout utilizing biopolymer-based soil treatment (BPST) to address the environmental issues of conventional grouts, such as CO2 emissions and groundwater contamination.
