ABSTRACT
This paper summarizes the maintenance management of the Abo Tunnel’s escape tunnel, taking into account the progression of deformations. Approximately 10 years after its construction, various deformations, such as shear cracks in the lining concrete and road surface heaving, began to appear in the escape tunnel. In response, road surface reconstruction and reinforcement of the lining concrete were carried out. However, road surface heaving has continued to progress even after these measures were taken, prompting further examination of potential future countermeasures. In developing these countermeasures, future deformation progression was predicted based on measurement data. Numerical simulations were conducted to analyze potential outcomes, helping to determine the optimal timing for the implementation of the measures and setting monitoring threshold values for future management. This approach ensures that future deformations can be effectively managed through proactive maintenance and timely interventions.
