ABSTRACT
Highway tunnel entrance nameplates generally provide indicative functions in tunnels. Suitable design of road tunnel entrance nameplate can effectively improve the comfort and safety of driving. This paper studies the influence of nameplate on highway tunnel entrance from the perspective of driving distraction. This paper makes statistics on the layout of nameplates in the country, and analyzes the differences in color, size, font, position and layout form of nameplates. The driving simulation method was used to evaluate the different settings of the nameplate at the entrance of highway tunnels, and the influence of each factor on the driving behavior was analyzed from driver’s eye movement data. The results show that the font height and location of the nameplate at the entrance of a highway tunnel have a significant influence on the driving behavior in the tunnel, and the influence degree is similar to the number of lanes.
