ABSTRACT

Mumbai Metropolitan Region is one of the most populated metropolitan regions in the world. Mumbai Metro Line-3 also known as the Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ line, is a part of the metro system presently under construction in Mumbai. Mumbai is a coastal city and known as the financial capital of India. When completed, the 33.5km fully underground corridor will be the first underground metro line in Mumbai and will cater to 1.7 million passengers daily with a frequency of 3-4 minutes.

Shitladevi station is one amongst the 26 underground stations being constructed for this line and is being constructed in a congested part of the city at a proximity to the Arabian sea. The area consists of very old and dilapidated buildings. The paper covers an instance of building settlement due to sudden ingress of water in the station and the actions taken for the stability of the structures.
