ABSTRACT

The mechanical properties and long-term corrosion behavior of the new stainless steel cladding steel bars were studied by uniaxial tensile and electrochemical test methods. The results show that the stainless steel cladding steel bar combines the excellent properties of stainless steel and carbon steel,the yield strength is improved to different degrees compared with HRB400E carbon steel bar and solid stainless steel bar, the ductility is smaller than that of solid stainless steel, close to HRB400 steel bar, and the elastic modulus is slightly lower than that of HRB400E steel bar. Under the effect of chloride salt corrosion, the corrosion rate of HRB400E steel bars was the fastest, followed by 304SC stainless steel cladding steel bars, and the corrosion rate of solid 304L stainless steel bars was the slowest. The stainless steel cladding steel bar is mainly pitted, and the rust product contains more α-FeOOH, which makes the rust layer denser than that of HRB400E steel bar. Solid 304L stainless steel bars have the best corrosion resistance, HRB400E have the worst corrosion resistance, and stainless steel cladding steel bars are in between.
