ABSTRACT

Both welding stud and epoxy gluing corrugated shear connector were adopted for composite design between UHPFRC layer and deck plate of orthotropic steel bridge deck (OSD) in an arch suspension girder bridge. Local segment finite element model of this UHPFRC composite bridge deck was established and calibrated by test study. The force transmission characteristics of hybrid connection interface was analyzed during loading, including the elastic deformation stage, interface damage development stage and delamination stage. The optimized hybrid connecting ways of both welding stud and epoxy gluing corrugated shear connector was determined for UHPFRC composite steel bridge deck. The analysis results demonstrate that this hybrid composite material interface combines the advantages of cold and hot connections, effectively improving the local stiffness of fatigue details in OSD and reducing stress levels.
