ABSTRACT
This chapter addresses the history of the Trust & Safety Professional Association (TSPA) and Trust and Safety Foundation (TSF), two organizations that play crucial roles in organizing and fostering the trust and safety ecosystem. The chapter proceeds in two parts. The first part republishes a blog post by Prof. Eric Goldman, a TSPA founding director, discussing the TSPA's origin story at the time of its launch in 2020. The second part contains an edited transcript of a conversation between TSF Research & Program Director Amanda Menking and the three founding directors of the TSPA and TSF, Adelin Cai, Prof. Eric Goldman, and Clara Tsao, expanding on the TSPA and TSF origin stories. Collectively, the two parts provide key insights into the past, present, and future of the trust and safety ecosystem.
