ABSTRACT
This study explores challenges in performance management faced by administrative staff in Islamic Senior High Schools in Lampung, Indonesia, and proposes improvement strategies. Using a qualitative exploratory approach, in-depth interviews with seven participants (two principals, two heads of administration, and three administrative staff) were analysed through content analysis to identify key obstacles and practical solutions. The findings highlight five major challenges: suboptimal planning, insufficient training, inconsistent evaluations, heavy workloads, and ineffective communication. Addressing these requires a comprehensive management strategy, including systematic planning, continuous training, transparent evaluations, balanced workload distribution, and improved communication. This study provides valuable insights for administrators and policymakers in faith-based institutions, contributing to educational management discourse by integrating Islamic values with effective organisational practices.
