ABSTRACT
Providing snacks for meeting attendees is a universal practice. In the Indonesian context, snacks are often served in individual packages, allowing participants to consume them as needed. While practical, this packaging generates various types of waste, particularly plastics. This study examines the typical snack packaging used in official meetings and its implications for the green campus movement at State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Employing a descriptive qualitative analysis, the research utilises 2024 snack consumption data from the University Business Centre. The findings reveal that snacks are presented in individual packages comprising plastic-based materials alongside organic materials, paper-based wrappers, and aluminium cups. These snack packages generate 34.07 kilograms of plastic waste per month. This study highlights the urgent need for the university to implement specific policies on snack packaging to reduce plastic waste, aligning with the principles of the green campus movement and contributing to sustainable waste management practices.
