ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine MIC and MBC of Arthrospira platensis against root canal pathogen such as Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans. Methods: The study design was a post-trial control group design. Subjects were divided into 24 groups. K(-) 1-3 groups were root canal pathogens without any treatment, K(+) 4-6 were treatment groups with Ca(OH)2, group P7-24 were treatment with various concentration of extract Arthrospira platensis. Results: The average count of the number of viable bacteria in 15 mg/ml. There were no viable root canal pathogens at concentration 20 mg/ml. ANOVA results, all groups p=0.00 (p<0.05) meant there were significant differences. Conclusion: MIC of Arthrospira platensis extract against Enterococcus faecalis was obtained at 15 mg/ml, Staphylococcus aureus at 10 mg/ml, and Candida albicans at 15 mg/ml and MBC against Enterococcus faecalis bacteria was obtained at 20 mg/ml, Staphylococcus aureus at 15 mg/ml, and Candida albicans at 20 mg/ml.
