ABSTRACT
Objectives: to compare the malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in the blood plasma of Wistar rats induced with Porphyromonas gingivalis and MDA levels in the blood plasma of healthy Wistar rats. Methods: A experiment was conducted with post-test only control group design. There was one group consisting four male Wistra rats that were induced with P. gingivalis and another group consisting of four healthy male Wistar rats without bacteria induction. Blood plasma were drown from infraorbital region after following one week induction with bacteria. MDA levels in plasma blood were analyzed with ELISA. Results: There was a significant difference in the concentration of MDA levels compared to the mean score. The mean concentration of MDA observed in the healthy rats was at 0.300 ng/mL and the MDA levels of the induced rats was at 1.550 ng/mL. Conclusion : The MDA levels detected were higher in the group of Wistar rats induced with bacteria compared to healthy rats.
