ABSTRACT

Objectives: This study aims to analyze the effect of Bombyx mori L. fibroin coating on hydrophobicity of collagen membrane. Methods: The samples were divided into a negative control group (A) as well as one-time (B), two-times (C), and three-times fibroin coating (D). The procedure was carried out with a dip-coating technique and hydrophobicity was measured based on a water contact angle test using ImageJ software. The data obtained were then analyzed statistically using one-way ANOVA (p<0.05). Results: Collagen membrane with three-times fibroin coating had the highest WCA of 89.68° ±1.59°, followed by two-times (76.88°±0.95°), one-time (74.83±1.31°), and control (72.08°±0.81°) groups. In addition, ANOVA analysis showed that the treatments had significant effects on WCA. The LSD showed significant differences between three-times coating group and other groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results, three-times coating of Bombyx mori L. fibroin improved hydrophobicity properties of collagen membrane.
