ABSTRACT

In this article we have proposed a structure of antipodal geometry without exponential curves exhibiting broad bandwidth in the Ultra wide-band frequency range. A compact directional antipodal antenna structure with improved directivity is achievement using this novel shape. The proposed model is compact in the sense that it is designed on a substrate of size merely 50*32mm2 in area. The theoretical results of the proposed antenna are validated through experimental measurements. The proposed antenna exhibits a UWB impedance bandwidth. The radiation characteristics are consistent with impedance bandwidth. The proposed antenna exhibits maximum 6.60 dBi simulated Gain with an average simulated radiation efficiency of 89.72% and experimental results are in close agreement with simulated results.
