ABSTRACT
This study explores the experiences of female judges and the challenges they face in their professional roles. The findings reveal that although female judges play a significant role in advocating for the rights of justice seekers, particularly women, they encounter substantial challenges in balancing their professional responsibilities with family life. Their contributions are crucial in advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically in closing gaps in legal protection for women and expanding access to justice for all. The professional success of female judges is heavily influenced by internal support, especially from their spouses and families. While Indonesia offers considerable opportunities for female judges to progress in their careers as judges, court leaders, and judicial officials, there is a lack of a comprehensive state support system to address these challenges. This research is based on in-depth interviews with five female judges from Islamic Courts in Indonesia, which primarily handle cases involving women seeking justice.
