ABSTRACT

The decommissioning of coal mines across Europe poses a dual challenge: mitigating residual pollution and regenerating post-industrial landscapes. We present a conceptual methodological framework that integrates empirical data preprocessing, dynamic emission simulations, nature-based solutions (NbS), quantified health impact assessment, and multi-criteria optimization, all aligned with the EU's just transition framework. Building on Menéndez-García (2021) and validated with Menéndez-García et al. (2022), the approach offers a replicable roadDogan map to design, evaluate, and adapt remedial measures in post-mining territori
