ABSTRACT
A numerical analysis of a two-storey building with a small footprint indicated that discontinuous step-type mining-induced deformation beneath the structure results in detachment from the ground over more than half of its plan area. Consequently, this detachment alters the distribution of internal forces within the structural elements. To ensure compliance with Ultimate Limit States, the required reinforcement for the analyzed structure comprises a reinforced concrete foundation slab with a thickness of 0.35 m and reinforced concrete cores integrated within the walls. Numerical analysis was conducted to determine the deformation behaviour of the building under discontinuous deformation, identify the most unfavorable location of this deformation, and determine the necessary reinforcement to guarantee the safety of the structure.
