ABSTRACT

The Laboratory of Planetary Diplomacy presents the Nordic-Arctic Atlas, a prototype for mapping socio-environmental injustices and industrial disruptions using a trans-scalar approach. This research employs geospatial mapping, satellite imagery, AI-generated narratives, and participatory tools to visualize hidden territorial violence. By integrating historical cartographies, trans-scalar analysis, and digital modeling, the Atlas documents environmental injustices and ecological resilience in the Nordic-Arctic region. It critically examines the paradoxes of the sustainability narrative, revealing the hidden forces behind industrial expansion. The study highlights Indigenous knowledge systems and their role in shaping resilient, post-industrial futures. The Atlas includes data from researchers and local communities, presenting findings from field trips along the Luleå River and the Arctic Circle. These findings illustrate the contested nature of Arctic development and propose alternative imaginaries of rejuvenation, advocating for ecological rights and Indigenous sovereignty.
