ABSTRACT

Structural underpinning can effectively reduce the amount of building transformation, and is one of the effective measures towards refinement, lightweight and low-carbon development. The synergy between the structural underpinning technology and the spatial design objectives requires the guidance of an interdisciplinary methodology. The article summarizes the types of underpinning technology and the design strategies of underpinned space from the morphological perspective, and finally verifies the design methodology in some of the building transformation projects in Xiaoxihu, which provides theoretical foundations and empirical references for synergistic application of underpinning technology and spatial transformation design.
