ABSTRACT
From January to July 2024, in Portugal, an exploratory artistic project FÓRUM NADA NOVO was coordinated by a not-for-profit association, a collective group that works to promote the reuse of components and construction materials, in the various aspects of their application. The objective of this forum was to explore the practical, cultural and aesthetic implications of the reuse of building components, following their path from their origin in urban ‘mines’, investigation and debate through public participative activities, and their ultimate application in an experimental structure, the ‘Forum’. This research paper outlines the development process of FÓRUM NADA NOVO whose format and results provided precedent for other initiatives to bring together diverse actors to debate the cultural and aesthetic implications of future reuse patterns.
