ABSTRACT
The first ever stone constructions dates from antiquity but its decline during the 20th century has been marked by the advent of industrialization that paved the way for simpler and standardized construction techniques using materials like steel and reinforced concrete. In recent years, structural stone has increased interest in the construction industry due to its low carbon footprint. However, in practice, adopting modern standards to analyse and design unreinforced stone walls and lintels is time-consuming and remains a challenge. This paper presents a simple calculation method that combines Eurocodes checks and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) within a single software to ensure a seamless and efficient engineering process. This facilitated the development of a calculation tool based on Equivalent Frame Modelling (EFM) and simplified linear elastic theory, within an algorithmic modelling environment.
