ABSTRACT

The NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) is one of the most used human factors methods and is by far the most widely used subjective workload assessment tool. This chapter discusses subjective workload assessment in general, with a focus on NASA-TLX, including its administration, strengths and weaknesses, and current relevance as work progresses and new technologies emerge. We have included some examples of its use to support the practical application of workload assessment.
