ABSTRACT

Global supply chains have undergone unprecedented disruptions in recent years, driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical conflicts, and evolving trade policies. These events have exposed structural vulnerabilities in conventional sourcing models and underscored the strategic importance of resilience. This study examines the role of supplier diversification in enhancing supply chain resilience, using Amazon's pandemic response as a focal case. Employing an exploratory approach based on secondary data from corporate reports, industry analyses, scholarly literature, and authoritative news sources, the paper evaluates the impact of geographic dispersion, multi-tier supplier networks, and technological integration on operational continuity. The findings indicate that Amazon's proactive diversification strategies, combined with nearshoring, regionalization, and advanced digital tools, significantly reduced lead times, improved order-to- delivery performance, and bolstered systemic resilience. The research synthesizes theoretical perspectives with practical strategies to offer actionable guidance for supply chain managers operating in an era of persistent uncertainty.
