ABSTRACT

This review paper examines Anita Desai's both novels which explore mental health issues and emotional isolation in post-colonial India through captivating pictures and reflective storytelling, demonstrate. Desai's talent for capturing female psychology, both volumes that look at the inner life of their female's focusing on disaffect mental turmoil, and identity in a male-dominated society. Desai's portrayal of Maya's psychological collapse caused by an unrequited relationship and other side introducing Sita, a woman juggling the demands of parenthood and self-reliance who finds solace on a secluded island to get away from the grind of family life.
