ABSTRACT
Considering that STAT-ONtm is the final result of some part of the research done in the REMPARK project, this chapter summarizes the contents of the book “Parkinson's Disease Management through ICT: The REMPARK Approach,” published by River Publishers in 2017, where the research and innovation performed and achieved in this project is described.
Here, an analysis is done about the opportunity associated to the different obtained and reported results. It is explained how a decision was taken on the redesign and additional work done on a wearable sensor for the measurement and detection of movement symptoms related to Parkinson's disease.
The chapter ends with a concrete reference to the initiative for organizing the proposal of an SME Instrument (phases I and II) action project that provided the convenient framework for the development and subsequent launching to the market of a new medical device, commercialized by Sense4Care, with the name STAT-ONtm.
