ABSTRACT

This research discusses the role of the Indonesian government and its commitment to support the Palestinians in international forums such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the United Nations, the Asian–African Conference and the Non-Aligned Movement. The theory employed in this research is the foreign policy approach of James N. Rosenau, which focuses on the roles of leadership, internal conditions and external conditions in determining policy. The method used is a qualitative approach, while the data was obtained from primary and secondary sources. The conclusion is that Indonesia’s support of Palestine from Sukarno to the era of Joko Widodo has demonstrated different interests and styles but has been consistently guided by national interests and the many internal communities that support the Indonesian government in continuing to voice support for the Palestinians. Indonesia’s support of Palestine in international forums has opened the door to both opportunities and challenges for Indonesia.
