ABSTRACT

This work investigated dissolution of goethite with pre-adsorbed arsenate (As(V); As-goethite) by phytate and its effect on As uptake by As-hyperaccumulator P. vittata. The results showed that phytate promoted As-goethite dissolution, thus enhanced plant growth. In addition, while inorganic phosphorus (Pi) decreased As uptake, organic phytate increased As uptake by P. vittata.
