ABSTRACT

The arsenic that is removed from the water, for human use and consumption generates a residue that is toxic. The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of pH in the conditioning process of sludge produced in the removal of As(V) by the coagulation-flocculation process. The properties that influence the chemical conditioning and kinetics of drainage in the dewatering process are, pH, polymer dosage, time and speed of agitation. It was determined that the pH in the conditioning process if it influences the dewatering of sludge with As, being the pH 7, which shows significant differences in the conditioning of the mud, improving the dehydration stage.
