Resource-driven models of the development of the political economy1

This chapter describes and explains the CIEN and STEX resource-driven political economy models, which are constructed from the recent experience of the developing market economies. The models are then adapted to analyze the constraints upon economic reform in the centrally planned countries in transition to a market economy, with particular reference to the Caucasus and Central Asian (CCA) countries.
