Environmental security as a universal value

This chapter explores the theoretical implications of invoking environmental security as a universal value. It begins with a discussion of the concept of environmental security that draws on recent literature, proceeds to a treatment of the concept in terms of values and interests, and concludes with a consideration of the implications of an emerging global norm of environmental security for the theory of international relations.
