ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the book, as well as the contexts in which the research on which the analyses are based was carried out. It explains (a) the rationale (both in terms of social science theory and relevance for forestry and foresters), (b) the conceptual and theoretical framework used in the rest of the book (the ‘harp’ and ‘harp strings’) and (c) the organization of the book.
